After waiting for a day in the city of Los Andes due to heavy storms that closed the Los Libertadores border complex, we managed to set off on a long and winding road that climbs and crosses the Andes mountain range up to 3200 metres above sea level, passing through the valley of the Aconcagua River that descends to the Pacific Ocean and further up to the largest ski resort in Latin America, Portillo and the iconic Inca Lagoon at 3100 metres above sea level.
Once at the border we met an adventurous Colombian couple who have been travelling around South America on motorbikes for three years now and plan to travel the whole continent.

After crossing to the Argentinean side, the landscape changes slowly down to the valleys of the Mendoza River, but not before we saw the majestic and imposing Mount Aconcagua, which rises to 6962 metres and is thus the highest mountain in the Americas.
At the Argentinean customs we spent almost three hours waiting in a long line of cars and then a slow immigration process, as the system was down for a long period of time, which took longer than expected.

Near the end of the day we arrived in the picturesque village of Uspallata, known for its handicrafts and alfajores, where we tried the classic Argentinean Bife chorizo and lomo (pork loin). And we loaded the VW ID4 again in the Enel X juicebox of the big Hotel de Uspallata in a wonderful environment between poplars and meadows.
We continued on our way along the Mendoza river and in the evening we arrived at Luján de cuyo B&B in the south of Mendoza, where Ignacio kindly welcomed us and offered us the services of the hostel.
